If you have a valid driver’s license or identification card from another state and permanently move to South Carolina, you must apply for an SC license or ID within 45 days of moving to the state. The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles is located on the mainland at 15 Sheridan Park off Route 278.
If you move to South Carolina from another state, you may need to transfer your vehicle’s title and registration. Before you can transfer your title and registration, you must pay any property taxes with the county treasurer.
